Hello guys!
I cannot believe we can finally play as Alucard in Aria of Sorrow (and the sprites are for Soma in the main game, so we can equip items, instead of playing with the second character!) thanks to DarkPrinceAlucard.
I always wanted to play as Leon Belmont in a 2D game, specially Harmony of Dissonance since Juste Belmont can equip items and is a Belmont.
Could someone make this mod? Replace Juste Belmont sprites for Leon Belmont (from Lament of Innocence) so we can finally play a 2D game as Leon (and be able to quip items and such)?
I found two sets of sprites in the internet, on in here by Vedora Kingdom/Vydartz that was used to make the great Leon Belmont mod for Portrait of Ruin, by I am Me .
And I found this one:
Made by xXxMatthewxXx on Castlevania Dungeon. The set of sprites are very good, but I don't think is finished.
Please, this mod would be awesome, like play as Alucard in AoS = )

i´ve never try to change a thing in HoD but as i can see in the julius tilesets you can´t put any full Leon animation with out lose some quality like the missing some frames

I hear you, but I think it would be cool, even losing frames, to be able to play as Leon in Harmony of Dissonance. Even Juste coat reminds me a little of Leons garments.

Existing custom sprites for Leon are higher quality, than gba can handle. Even size need to be edited. Unless we talk about redoin whole game...

Hmmm, so, even the made Sprites must be edited for GBA to handle the game. That complicates matters = (
I will try to contact the users who did the sprites to see if they can make inferior sprites. Any tips to what I should tell they (how much frames, or things like that)?

thats why a lot of time takes to make Alucard playable in AoS, there was no sprite size that can be add to the game, i can for example resize the sprites of vedora to fit in the size for a gba castlevania, the only problem is as far i know Juste dosnt have too much space to work, some moves must be equal or similar so it will no affect the right movements. Still there is one project where the character and all the areas are made in the size of DS but you need to change all castlevaniamodding.boards.net/thread/265/aos-sotn

It sounds like to much trouble to change an entire GBA game to make better sprites possible. Wouldn't be easier to transport all assets of a GBA Castlevania game to a game making platform, like Unity? It's possible to export the game rules and import the exactly same game rules, like luck factor, attacks, enemy behaviour, etc... and just change the graphic capacity in a game making platform?
And, making possible better sprites in the original game, wouldn't that hamper the GBA handheld console capacity? Like slowdowns and such, even on emulators? I'm really sorry for my dumb questions, I really don't understand about those things. If Harmony of Dissonance is that limited, even toning down the sprites of Leon sounds as a waste of effort to make a replacement.

I would say, if you wanna make fan game, better do it akin to SOTN or DS games. Then you can properly use custom sprites. Transfering gba content will not make a big difference, because you would still have to edit all content to match Leon's sprite (which is huge in size for a gba CV stage for example) or edit Leon's sprite itself. Also then it would be playable only on PC, while modded games mostly playable on consoles or phones. There is one HoD mod for Ralph (sprite from SOTN), which you can try to get general idea of how higher quality sprite can work in a game for GBA.

Wait I can you edit juste's sprites to look like Leon? Because if it works and you wouldn't have a problem with swapping sprites and having so many problems because leon must move in the same ways as juste.

Thanks for the info guys! It's pretty complicated modding this games = ( I downloaded your sprite sheet. I am going to give it a shot in HOD. DSVania and Paint.net should suffice for making this swap with Juste possible. We will see. If you need an example, go check out the Pachislot hack in GBA WIP. I ported all sprites using said programs. Trevor was mighty difficult!

Let me take the opportunity to ask something about Symphony of the Night. It is easy hackable? It seems to be the Castlevania that most players prefer (myself a huge fan o Saturn version, but lament of Innocence is the best for me) but I don't see many people modding. it It's harder to hack SotN then other portable Castlevania games?

I am not making any promises, but I will try. lol. There are not currently a lot of tools for modding and hacking SOTN. This is a frownie face for me as well. I love the Saturn version. They really should've left those areas and that version of Maria in the PSX version as well. DSVania has made it so much simpler to mod NDS and GBA Castlevanias. Aside from Japan roms, CotM, and AOS Alter, as they use different coding than the program. Though for alot of easy spriting there are tools like YYCHR, but not for SOTN! lol. LoI was cool but needs expansion. CoD was a much larger game. Still my fav is SOTN. If you want SOTN mods, closest you are gonna get is with PSP DXC version. Lots of mods there. Plus CWcheat makes it easily moddable.

Starwyvern in the Japanese PSX version of Castlevania symphony of the night you actually get to fight Maria and have to fight Maria before you get the holy glasses
