What's up everyone. Since everyone on this site is either a gamer, a Castlevania fan, a romhacker/spriter, or all of the above, you all relate to me the most. So I thought I would start this thread so that we could all share what is going on around us, and our opinions or concerns therein. Iamme and I talked about it a little bit already. But this thread will now include everyone. SO... In Ohio, US, where I am, all schools, restaurants, bars, movie theaters, event venues, and just about everywhere else where it would be possible for mass gatherings, are closed. Store supplies are limited, and people are all being asked to stay at home. However, when the need to go get groceries does arrive, trips to the store are quite ridiculous, as they are overcrowded, and inside the store is like a madhouse. Exactly the opposite of what we were told to do. lol. Any one else? What's your situation like? Thoughts? Concerns? Opinions?

This isn't really news related to the site or CV so I moved it to general discussion.
Also regarding it I've just been staying at home and fixing up my house with my free time, my grandmother who is 87 contracted it weeks ago but luckily she only had mild symptoms so my Aunt is taking care of her and they are in self quarantine.

You have my deepest sympathies. I hope your grandmother comes through it well. My wife sends her regards as well. My mother is 80. And my mother-in-law is 69. So I can relate. My wife and I frequently take care of them, doing their errands, and grocery shopping. With the way this thing spreads, it is scary to know any one of us could carry it to them, and not even show any symptoms. When we are not taking care of them, or getting supplies for ourselves, we are at home as well. We are all going a bit stir crazy at the moment. But I am trying to keep all of our spirits up.

Thanks, I'm just grateful she only had mild symptoms, you hear about it being deadly for people over 60 so when I first heard she had it my heart sunk but once I got in touch with my Aunt and then got to talk to her and she said she had it for weeks and her only symptoms was a mild fever and weakness, she said her daughter said the worse of it was over and now she just has to self quarantine at home with my Aunt looking out for her, she is in good spirits and doing better each day so all is well.

That is relieving to hear. I am glad everything is ok now. Still I am sorry you got the scare like that. lol. Now they are in the same boat as the rest of us, what with self quarantine and all. OH governor says anyone coming in to our state has to Quarantine for 14 days. I have a lot of running to do today for my mom and my household. Here's hoping to stay safe and healthy.

Another day with a successful trip to and from the grocery store amongst the crazy masses. Though I won't know if it was a safe trip or not for the next 14 days. OH cases skyrocket as PA governor warns PA residents to stay out of OH, and not let Ohioans come near them. No Easter at grandma's. Both grandmothers want us to stay home. Though I can't really blame them. Picked up enough supplies to stay home for 2 weeks. Hope it was enough. How are the rest of you doing?

Here's the thing that's slowly being released about this whole virus as of today. Some outlets are beginning to admit that COVID-19 is nothing more worse than the seasonal flu, just like every other virus. In fact, it operates like most viruses and it affects people in different variations, depending on your immune system or if you have a severe case of immune deficiency or immune compromised, whatever how you want to say it, just like past and present viruses during seasonal changes. Hell, even your allergies flared up during spring, summer or fall is due to viruses riding in on pollen. It does spread from person to person, just like any other virus as you WILL get sick immediately to a couple of days, again depending on your immune system. Like an example, when you are working in an office building and someone comes in sick then guess what? You'll have a domino effect on your hands. Anyone can get sick at any time of the year from anything. What's terrible of how this entire thing is played out is that Ebola, Swine and H5N1 (Bird Flu) NEVER had this kind of reaction on any level as they were highly infectious with a 10x higher mortality rate than COVID-19. Mortality rates differ from person to person as, again, immune system. Another thing to add. They're also finding out that doctors are spiking the numbers on purpose by testing the recently deceased for COVID-19 and when they find out they've got it its added to the statistics for more numbers. Mike Pompeo stated in one of the coronavirus meetings in front of President Trump that this was a live exercise and they needed numbers. That tells me whenever the next great war happens it will pertain to bio warfare or even terrorist attacks as anyone can make a virus. After all this is said and done we need better technology, medicine, emergency, hazard and healthcare to deal with the unexpected as this can range from viruses, volcanoes, tsunami events, earthquakes both known and unknown, pestilence and terrorism. Either we become better or this rut we are temporarily in will destroy us. I do not mean to cause any fear or panic within all of you as I'm stating real life. True this completely sucks of how this has been handled by all parties in every country but when they begin to outright admit that this was blown out of proportion you should be ticked beyond belief. Vaccines go only so far let alone cures are far in between as viruses do come back and you'll need another all cure shot, or pill, to get rid of it once again as things mutate and evolve hence why our technologies in medicine need to be worked out after this. I'm not much into conspiracy nonsense but I think us as a Human race have been duped something major in this wonderful start of the Roaring 20's In the meantime, I will still obey the law of social distancing until they say otherwise as I'm not worried about any of this. The only thing that upsets me is all of these 'experts' coming out to twist information for their 15 seconds of fame as these were nobodies until this whole pandemic started. Hell, even a friend of mine that has an immune deficiency isn't worried as he told me, and exact words, "I take this just like M&M's but with a new color added to the packet. I'm just curious of how long this special edition will be on the shelves this time around."

Just a quick note. I don't think you are wrong, but there are definitely some facts missing here. First, yes, its true that H1N1 (Swine Flu), H5N1 (Bird Flu), and Ebola virus all had a higher mortality rate. But these 3 specific diseases did not spread as quickly, or as easily as COVID-19. The reason the mortality rate was higher for them was that the scale of infected was much lower. As for normal Influenza virus, it has never even come close to the number of people around the world infected so quickly, and a higher percentage of them died from COVID than ever from the Flu. And this disease can live for days on something touched by anyone with the virus. Way more infectious! And you may not see the symptoms for up to 2 weeks. Thus the 14 day quarantine rule.
Second, This isn't just our Government talking. You gonna tell me Italy and China spiked their numbers too just to make this disease look more serious? No. If this were just people here looking for 5 secs fame, It would only be here in the US. But it hit EVERYWHERE hard. Even Australia got put on restrictions. Not by us, by their own government. We already saw it decline in China, and then they got it AGAIN. They did not wait long enough to lift restrictions.
Third, I think we all have about the same feeling there as your friend when he says M&M's with new color, limited edition, not here forever. But the thing about it is, social distancing isn't just about keeping you, your friend, or me safe. It is also about keeping non-symptomatic carriers from spreading it to those whom this virus COULD kill; my 80 year old mother, my Asthmatic 11 year old son, my wife's 69 year old mother. Would you want to find out you unknowingly killed someone just because you weren't worried about getting sick yourself? They say carriers can have this without ever having shown any symptoms. Italy and China are begging us to learn from what happened to them. Sure, there may be more threatening things out there, but do you really want to take a chance at killing someone's grandmother, mother, or kid? I don't.
Lastly, I don't want to turn this into a political debate. Some people agree with Trump. Others say he is making a bigger mess. Personally, I just want this all to be over, and come out on the other side of it with all of my friends and family alive. This response isn't a DIG at you. It is just how I perceive what I am seeing, and my opinion thereof. Thanks.

"It is just how I perceive what I am seeing, and my opinion thereof. Thanks." Oh, its understandable so you don't have to worry about rubbing me the wrong way as we're just talking here. Different views from different people "Would you want to find out you unknowingly killed someone just because you weren't worried about getting sick yourself?" In honesty, I've thought about this for ages. Long before the pandemic. I find that term extremely tacky and doom filled. Now true it is part of real life however I've heard of people committing suicide due to guilt of what they've done accidentally. The media overused this a lot which did make suicide prevention calls skyrocket because of how it was making people feel unwanted stress and guilt. It should have been worded differently though not everyone is like one another so who knows on what would have happened in the end. If people did not want to kill anyone else accidentally then we should have placed in the 6 foot rule decades ago. Course too, a lot of viruses are in the air so who knows. I'm not saying to stop social distancing as it is helping until otherwise. I have a deep conscience towards Human life, always hated when someone uses doom and gloom to cause unwanted fear and panic or to get a point across immediately. You must always talk to the populace in a calm fashion but since the beginning its been doom and gloom when WHO botched their reports on saying it cannot be spread from person to person. Since they found out otherwise, doom and gloom from the get-go. No reports on how people recovered and the likes as terror always brings attention to Human curiosity. Real life can be terrible sometimes. Even I can drop over dead while typing this (I know some people would want that since I speak my mind all the time lol ) "You gonna tell me Italy and China spiked their numbers too just to make this disease look more serious?" Since when has the world trusted China outside of making money? Tienanmen Square happened and they're saying it happened again but in a 2.0 fashion as over 21 million cell phones are inactive to this day with thousands of urns being ordered. Hong Kong protests were running wild and rampant, even spread across China itself as people were wanting actual Human Rights. People who try to report the truth from China, or go against their government, end up disappearing as they rule with an iron fist. For Italy, hospitals did report a rise in cases but only even after people died. Those stories were first reported that they were testing people passing away from heart attacks had COVID-19 so they added them to the number. Since then those reports were deleted because it was showing they wanted to boost numbers. I've been paying close attention to this whole thing since it first started and since the beginning everyone has been wanting their hand in the cookie jar of information. Sadly I cannot prove Italy's first testing of all of this so its just my word in which isn't good enough to prove that sadly. "do you really want to take a chance at killing someone's grandmother, mother, or kid?" You can even go out on a drive in the family car with them and get hit by someone accidentally leading to various outcomes with death being one of them. You can even fall over from a stroke or heart attack at any age and die from it. Real life happens. Not saying to stop social distancing but this virus is already in the air and even stayed on surfaces longer than they originally thought. That Princess something ship, whatever its named, proved this as we don't know anything about this virus still and its showing our lack of technology in science and health. "As for normal Influenza virus, it has never even come close to the number of people around the world infected so quickly" In some cases, it has multiple times as viruses mutate constantly. "But it hit EVERYWHERE hard. Even Australia got put on restrictions. Not by us, by their own government. We already saw it decline in China, and then they got it AGAIN. They did not wait long enough to lift restrictions" Just like every other virus returning each season or when something isn't cleaned properly. It always comes in waves no matter the precautions. "Lastly, I don't want to turn this into a political debate. Some people agree with Trump. Others say he is making a bigger mess." In honesty, I don't agree with Trump on a lot of aspects but I do not hate the man. Since he was first elected in its been nothing but harassment. Heck, they even attacked him when he first started to run with certain Democrats stating they had plans to impeach him in case they got into office. They also claimed they had plans to impeach ANYONE that got into office that wasn't Hillary. Not going to debate that as we'll be here for months as I can get extremely political and tear apart both Democrats and Republicans "This response isn't a DIG at you. It is just how I perceive what I am seeing, and my opinion thereof. Thanks." I know its not and honestly I hope that's truthful because I've had talks like this before with people saying that in which turned into them having a grudge against me behind my back because our views differed from one another. I do love debating these things as its part of real life as it gets me to know people more
