Hey guys, Kinda odd, but I'm having issues changing the palette the zombie enemy is assigned to. I'm trying to make the Ghoul enemy from SOTN and give it crazy high stats. I've found the enemy byte addresses in my hex editor and have copied and pasted the zombie bytes over the gremlin bytes so the game now recognizes them as 2 separate entities. Now, I just need to figure out how to assign the gremlin color palette to the zombie enemy I put in it's place. Coloring it won't be a problem once I am able to figure that out. I've listed the addresses and bytes below. Any ideas?
Zombie Address E9660
ED AB 07 08 ED A9 07 08 5D 00 22 00 12 00 0A 00 01 00 B4 09 01 14 1E 02 0C 00 21 00 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Gremlin Address E9E00

But one thing to remember is to make sure that the files you edit MUST have the same name and format as the original extracted sprite/palettes when you choose to import your edited version otherwise it will not work.

I still use APE for palette edits, but since the zombie enemy bytes are in two places now, hopefully, i can switch the palette easily. I haven't messed with graphics in DSvania. We'll see. What gfx editor did you use, again?

What gfx editor did you use, again? The thing is there really is no need to use APE anymore to edit the ingame palette or find it since as I said this can all be edited directly within DSvania, I used to use APE as well but DSvania has made palette hacking more streamlined, the gfx editor is a option within the sprite editor of DSvania, when you choose to extract the gfx it gives you the correct palette AND the sprites so really there is no need to even use the hex editor to narrow down the bytes for palettes anymore since once again this can all be done thanks to DSvania giving you the correct palette within the gfx editor itself for you to change it to whatever you want on the spot. Really all you need APE for its getting the color values for you new palette you want to add which is how I did all my recent hacks, I get the colors using the color picker within APE and then edit the ingame palette within DSvania's gfx editor to change the palette oolors on the spot, after saving the progress and building the rom its only a matter of sprite editing which can be done by extracting your new palette and images into the gfx folder and just editing those images and importing them back into DSvania.
