Hack: SCIV Simon Belmont Hack Author: DarkPrinceAlucard Downloadwww.mediafire.com/file/edy7zds178fbsis/CVPOR+Simon+Belmont+Hack.rarNotes/InstallationHere is my latest hack that replaces Johnathan with Simon Belmont from Super Castlevania 4, there are other changes as well such as almost all of the weapons (besides Wind's rewards) being removed and replaced with only whips that can be purchased through the shop akin to CV2, also enemies are stronger as well as Charlotte has a new/darker look. There may be future updates to this hack especially if fans really like this hack, those updates would include a new story, level layout, as well as new items and portraits. This hack will have a different installation due to the fact that I am unable to make a PPF Patch due to my hack having a different size than the original rom, because I don't support piracy (releasing roms) I decided the best solution would be to release it within a extracted format thanks to Lagolunatic's tool, but don't worry installation is not that hard and I will tell you the steps, 1. Download Lagolunatics tool here github.com/LagoLunatic/DSVEdit/releases/tag/v1.7.2 and create a folder for it and extract it within that folder 2. Secondly download my hack and extract into a new folder (name it whatever you like) afterwards you should have multiple hack folders within your new folder. 3. Open the DSvania tool go to File and choose Open Folder and choose the new folder that you just created that contains the hack files, once DSvania loads it up choose File and click Save and then choose Build to Build the rom, once you have done that check the folder that contains the hack files and you should see a new file called "built_rom_por" which the modified rom ready for you to play and enjoy, and then your done. Anymore questions feel free to ask here I will gladly help out. Video

I placed everything in the DSVania (Cool gadget, by the way), and select build. Then I dragged the Portrait of Ruin rom back. But I still ended up playing as Jonathan Morris. Wasn't sure where I went wrong.

Wasn't sure where I went wrong. Sounds like you may have chosen the wrong folder, when you download my hack and extract it you should get a folder called "CVPOR Simon Belmont Hack", that folder does not have to go within the DSvania folder you can place it anywhere so long as you remember where you put it. Afterwards you open up DSvania and make sure you click File within DSvania and choose Open Folder and make sure you choose that folder called "CVPOR Simon Belmont Hack", you will know its the right folder if on the top bar it has the name of the folder after DSvania Editor and it opens up, once you do that click file and then save and then go to build which should create a rom within the CVPOR Simon Belmont Hack folder called built_rom_por.nds and that is your new hacked rom for you to play.

Still weird that Desmume did not work for you, I use it sometimes with my hacks and it always has worked fine but whatever, be sure to stay tunned for future mods to come!

I tried this and it was fun. I was very happy with it, but I was very displeased with the placing of some of the music (for example: I don't feel that Tower of Dolls belongs in the Master's Keep, but using that tune from Dawn of Sorrow in the Tower of Death was brilliant), so I did a damn fool thing and deleted it.
Now I wish I hadn't. I somehow was able to add your mod into my own mod which ups the number of enemies in the game. I re-downloaded your hack, but I completely forgot how I managed to add your hack into my own hack. If anyone could tell me how to do this I would greatly appreciate it.
What my hack does is simply increase the number of enemies in the game, playing with Simon and dark Charlotte, along with the increased enemy HP, made it much more fun. Is it possible to build a ROM by applying a hack, such as this one, unto a specific ROM?
The copy of DSvania Editor that I did that in got screwed up. I re-downloaded a copy and it seems completely unable to build this particular ROM. So, on top of forgetting how I did it, then there's this too. Like Star-Lord, my own impulsive reaction screwed things up for me.
I'm sorry if I offended you, man. That was not my intention. I was really happy with the hack, but I'm very particular when it comes to music-placement. I should not have deleted it. I guess I just wanted to save space in my phone (my DS and game cartridges broke, and DesMuMe in my old laptop is too laggy, so I play the games on my phone). Now I want to try it again.
My apologies for making this a very long post. Sometimes I have trouble expressing myself, which leads me to making long-ass explanations.

Its cool dude, really all you had to do if you felt the music placement off was to remove the sound_data.sdat from the data folder in the hack and replace it with one from a extracted version of Portrait of Ruin for the file of the same name (sound.data.sdat) and you would have just had the original music placement, or you could learn to music hack yourself if you want which is actually pretty darn easy with DS Sound Studio located here, drive.google.com/file/d/0B9ZYBSGvTGbiSWJUYWYyNy1idkU/viewPretty much what you can do is extract any Castlevania game you want on the DS using DSvania tool and then open the program DS Sound Studio and choose to open the sound.data.sdat file, it will give you a list of music you can listen to, afterwards you can choose to replace those tracks and the cool thing is that its simple to swap between the DS Castlevanias music since the only thing you have to do is choose the sound.data file wtihin whichever game you want added and just choose to import it over the track, If you have any more questions about music swapping feel free to ask. But sorry I have no clue on how to combine this Simon Hack with yours sadly, I'm also confused as to how you where able to do this lol.

If you had prior hack of your own, make patch for this one and apply to your hack, or make patch of your hack and apply it to this hack. This may not work though. It depends if the coding overlaps. Most of the time I combine patches without issue. It does take a lot of trial and error though... If after every patch method fails, patches not compatible.
