You can do small edits to common gfx w/o adding space in dsv 1.7.2, I used that version back in 2018-9 for the LoD X PoR mod. I added the gems with a nice shinny effect, but I can't import darkfunction edits (needs free space, 1.8.0 version), so I had to use the original 02 red palette, which is not optimal, ruins other graphics. I was planning to take 1 unused color palette and set all the Bloodlines items to that palette with darkfunction. This palette is used through all the game for John, candles, sub weapons... Eric's just changes the 3 shades of brown for green ones, IIRC. Use the first save, blue gem is big heart, red is small, just like OG BL. PoR mod

I could try to swap in the gems but I don't know if DSVedit will let me import them without the free space. All I would have to do is export the common frames, and paste geams over hearts in paint.net. I just don't know if it will import them afterwards. Give me some time. We are all busy IRL. hey starwyvern if you're going to try to use gems try to use a small ones because I think that it would be more likely that dsvania would allow you to import the gems into the game if they were the small ones instead of the big ones from Castlevania bloodlines/Castlevania generations

I don't think this is worth to submit in the current state, this is just the beginning What else you have in mind? to be honest if I was doing this hack I would change the music in Jonathan's story mode to Castlevania bloodlines music I would also have references to Castlevania bloodlines more than they actually do like you could put in Eric's spear into the game you could also put in John Morris leather whip into the game

How do i Convert .mp3 BL music to the .sdat PoR music or .sseq? I was seeing this post: castlevaniamodding.boards.net/thread/102/add-music-dsvania-games?page=1but it not helped me, what i should do? My goal is: Game Over= BL Map ost City of Haze= BL Stage 2 ost Simon's Theme= BL Simon's Theme (Duh!) Boss ost= BL Mini Boss ost And i am still thinking of some more... I would speak with starwyvern about music if you want to learn how to work on then music for your game because he knows quite a bit about this subject have to deal with the different games that we hack on here from what I have seen. you might also look to I am Me and other people on here. talk to dark prince alucard he might be able to tell you who to talk to for help with music for your game.

After some 2 hours of studying, Here's what i did, i downloaded the CV BL Map ost mp3 and converted to .MID after that i sucessfully converted to sseq, and tried to import to the extracted files of the game using DS Sound Studio, it not worked, and then i tried using kiwi, FL Studio and VGMTrans, used the same name of the original sound file, replaced it and still the same thing.

Hey guys, just chiming in here because I’ve been mostly focusing on my Harmony of Dissonance Music hack, but wanted to give some insight so you can have realistic expectations.
If the NDS music works similar if not better than GBA replacement, cool. Once I finish this HoD project I’d like to learn how to start hacking the NDS Castlevanias.
Anyways, if a MIDI is needed to assist with music replacement, you can’t just convert an mp3 to a MIDI using any online converters. All they do is use the software to estimate one big melody and only use piano.
It does NOT separate tracks or assign instruments.
I would suggest going to a place like vgmusic.com and finding remixes from the Castlevania game and edit those MIDIs to be compatible.

Welcome to the Tread, thanks for the info i'm gonna check it out first before you go trying to put music into the game you need to know what the games music files are first and if you speak with one of the people I recommended there is a program they use to put music into the game it can also pull music from the game too then you could find out what the music file is just something you might want to think about.

The game uses a .sseq format, and i have a program that extract the game's music and a convertor from MIDI to sseq, but when i try to replace it and put into the game with two sound editors nothing happens, i still should try talking to them?

The game uses a .sseq format, and i have a program that extract the game's music and a convertor from MIDI to sseq, but when i try to replace it and put into the game with two sound editors nothing happens, i still should try talking to them? I have encountered this before. Midi's used may not be compatible. You have 3 options here. 1 - Use Anvil Studio to edit midi then save as compatible format midi. 2 - Find different arrangement of same song in midi format. 3 - Use different song altogether until song shows up in game. Easiest way to change songs is by pulling sseq's out of already existing NDS Roms, but is possible to convert some midi with enough work. It takes awhile though. I tried putting Libra's theme from Mega Man Star Force into POR for the Dark Academy, but the song would not show up in game after I swapped it. Eventually I tried a different midi of the same song and it worked. Try experimenting with these options a bit. Hope it helps. If not, send me a track list and I will see if I can make anything happen in my spare time, which as of now is almost nil.
