Castlevania Portrait of Ruin: Progenitors is a very traditional Castlevania romhack. It simply replaces alternate modes with different characters, enables all modes unlocked from the start and was made just for fun:
-Donoffrio's custom John Morris replaces Richter Belmont
-Vedora-Kingdom/Vydartz’s Young Eric Lecarde replaces Maria Renard
-Getsu Fuma replaces Old Axe Armor
John Morris:
Weapon:
- Undulating Whip (Whip/Fire/Holy/Undead Killer)
- Whip Chain Spiral (Critical Art, Whip/Fire/Holy/Undead Killer)
Sub-weapons:
- Triple Knives (Slash)
- Axe (Slash)
- Crystal Blade Boomerang (Slash)
- Holy Water (Fire/Holy)
- Bible (Strike/Holy)
- Spirit of Light (Holy, Magic damage)
Martial Arts:
- Flame Fist Tackle (↑, ←, ↓, → + Y)
- Aerial Kick (→, ↓, ←, → + Y)
- Flame Fist Combo (→, ↓, ←, ↑, → + Y)

- Alucard Spear (from Judgement) (Slash/Holy)
- Warp Jump Smash (Critical Art, Slash/Holy)
Sub-weapons:
- Cross (Slash/Holy)
- Gale Force (Slash, Magic damage)
- Stopwatch (Lasts five seconds)
- Grand Cross (Holy)
Martial Arts:
- Whirlwind (↑, ←, ↓, → + Y)
- Alucard Spear Combo (→, ↓, ←, ↑, → + Y)

Weapon:
- Pulse Blade (Slash, may hit more than once)
Sub-weapons:
- War Drum (Strike/Holy/Curse)
- Venom Shuriken (Slash/Poison)
Martial Arts:
- Pulse Blade Barrage (↑, ←, ↓, → + Y)
- Pulse Blade Combo (→, ↓, ←, ↑, → + Y)
- Backflip (↓ + L while jumping, Slash)
- Slide Jump (↓ + B then B, Strike)
- Many of the sub-weapons used on the new players may be a bit overtuned for Jonathan Mode.
- Some sub-weapons may come pre-mastered.
- The scenes related to the Whip's Memory have been slightly altered.
- Added a small amount of item/skill pickups (like 4 in total).
- The map/enemy balance has NOT been altered in any way.

Why no Adult/Bloodlines Eric:
1. Bloodlines Eric not having a completed sprite set in the DSVania/Castlevania Fighter style
2. Young Eric being more fitting to be replaced over Maria since they're shorter than John/Richter and it makes their collision look less awkward
3. Young Eric having a few more interesting moves than Bloodlines Eric
This was made as a side project with the free time and effort of many members of the community, just have fun with it!

Several ASM patches as well as research and development of some fixes.

Implementation of the above, porting and animating John, touching up his boss fight and the story stuff around it, John's boss portrait, sub-weapon editing, bugfixing, a few item/skill placements for Jonathan Mode, small edits to Fuma, adding all the new voices, smaller cosmetic edits, and project conception.

Known Bugs:
A new sub weapons sprites might vanish once in awhile just cycle them to fix it. (or just avoid swapping between Eric and John too much)
