Is there any modder here who knows how to use hextools?
I was wondering if it's possible to make Leon start with 2 alchemy whips at the start of the game (instead of only one) and save this alteration in the Castlevania Lament of Innocence European ISO.
I'm making another update in the Alchemy mod, and since its focus on item management, enemy status change and Souls like difficulty, I wish we could do this in the european rom ,where there is no item duplication method (so the game can still be hard, with no cheats). The problem is that, when the whip becomes The Vampire Killer, the player loses the alchemy whip. All I need is that Leon starts with 2 whips.

Hello, I don't know if you've been able to figure it out by now, but I found what you've been looking for. For the European ISO, open your hex editor and search for the address 3E8630, it should display "01 00 01 00". The first 01 is the ID of the first item in your starting weapon inventory, which is the Whip of Alchemy. It's a 2-bytes values so "01 00" is to be seen as a whole number. The next "01 00" is the numbers of the item held. If you change it to "02 00" then you will start with two Whips of Alchemy.

Man, you are a genius, it worked. I will release a souls edition of the game soon. Let me ask you, is there a possibility to disable @crazy (hard) mode.

Let me ask you, is there a possibility to disable @crazy (hard) mode. if you were going to do that I would find a way to make the game easier for normal mode and then have crazy mode as the normal difficulty of the game. That way players who go and play the European version don't have as much of a hard time playing the game. Also it would be cool if you could figure out how to give Joachim armester his menu back that Leon and pumpkin also had. It would be also cool if you could go and figure out how to give him his real time menu back as well. This way when we're fighting a boss like the forgotten one. We will be able to acquire potions throughout the game that we will be able to use. It would also be nice to be able to use the armors as well when playing him. Like you were supposed to be able to.

I would love to, but that would require a lot of hard coding, an skill which I don't have. I usually use tools to make changes in this game. I'm impressed I actually manage to use Hex code haha.

That way, while loading a Joachim file, he can play as Leon or vice versa. If you do this, Joachim will still have issues on Leon mode: he gets his inventory and equipment, but he still cannot use potions and/or use Relics because those are tied to animations that Joachim doesn't have. There is probably a workaround, but it requires LUA scripting. Same for making an easy mode. All possible, but just editing the game's ROM won't suffice.

My first mod for this game (Alchemy mod) people tried playing on Crazy difficulty, but I balanced the item drops for normal game difficulty. Since many hard enemies appears at the beginning on Crazy mode, some people manage to take the best equipment's at the beginning of the game. This hard but fair mode I'm making is intended for normal playthrough layout.

This hard but fair mode I'm making is intended for normal playthrough layout. I understand. There are 3 solutions to this: -Finding if there is a string in ROM that determines if you're playing on Crazy mode, but this is just an idea. I don't know if it really exists; -LUA Script that forces you to play on Normal Mode even when you choose Crazy mode; -Explicitly telling in your mod's release page that it is balanced around Normal mode and should be played on Normal mode. (I don't know if you already did, but it's a good idea to include this if you haven't yet) It is simple, but it works.
