Is it possible to import whole characters with gfx sprites pointers pallets ect. into another DS castlevania title?, for example if I you take Alucard from dos he has a ridiculous amount of extra pages for extra pallets, could they be removed and replaced with another character and how would one make said new character playable and useable?

Yes, it's all possible. You take his sprites, put them nice and condensed on your own 128x128 sheets and reconstruct his animations in darkfunction or export his darkfuntion, import it to the new game, over the main characters and adjust it to work with your sheets. You do this over the main character of the game you are trying to have him in, of course things like voices, weapons working properly with his animations, etc are entirely separate problems. Doing it on a side character might be easier but they tend to be more limited on sheets in the editor. He has ALOT of sheets so renaming and just importing them probably wouldn't work out.

It seems like the sprites are rendered invisible for some reason I had a few animations working but as soon as I changed the backdash animation it seems to glitch I'm not sure why, are there any limitations to how many frames or cells can be used per animation or is it a dsvania bug or something?

Animations are fine in darkfunction but not in-game? Are animations properly set in dsvania? (Tools > Player State Anim Editor) AFAIK, there's no limits in parts, delay time and frames of animation you can have, If you wanna see an example of a brand new character import, check out this modification I made, the whole sprite sheet was redone, parts, animations, etc. (for Maria). PoR x LoD Carrie modWould you mind to share your modded rom so I can check where's the problem?

I'm changing Johnathan into Alucard, and his cape is the so large I have to resize the parts in dark function, but some sprites have to be cut into pieces in gfx file and assembled in dark function it's worked so far but seems to glitch when ever I change the back dash I make backups so when I make a mistake I can delete the flawed build and reimport the previous one that still works,could it be that certain frames require a certain number of parts to assemble correctly and render. I'm so lost right now but hey trial and error.

It would be easier this way, looking to my notes, backdash anim is 2F (dsv) 0E (darkfunction), are you sure you are editing that one?

It also seems like editing the slide animation on Johnathan makes the game loop a trash Sprite cycle that cant be selected in dark function or found in dsvania, the sprites are in f_tpm06 but can't be modified in the editors mentioned above so I had to start from scratch again any reason why this is happening?

If you manually inserted own sprites freely & not in the same space Johnny have, you need to define your new sprites using Dark Function. Set new canvas. Dark Function have own animator that you can use to make animation from scratch. Check how your animation look using Dark Function.
