Wait a moment, why doing this for ROTF, instead of a base game? Method you're using not working on it? ROTF sacrifices Max for Julius. In the worst case Max can use other special skills, as I showed years ago, that may come in handy I know how to make the change in HEX to allow Maxim access to Juste's spells, it's only 1 HEX Value to change, BUT it would only work if he was able to cycle through the Spellbooks AND get other subweapons in the castle, which he cannot, because when you load Maxim, he is stuck with the Shuriken. Maxim can only pause the game, and not access a menu, so I'm not sure how the Spellbook cycling works with the Extra characters besides Julius, but it doesn't matter anyways for Maxim, because of the candles not dropping any other subweapons in the castle. I've mostly been messing with Findesiecle ever since I ported it successfully to the USA rom. I know how to add the animations to a stock Harmony of Dissonance, but I don't see the point honestly. Plus, let's say I add these frames of animation to a stock HoD, then it would prevent it from being compatible with other patches because I have no idea what Free space any other patches have used up, and I know what locations of Free Space Findesiecle uses, and I am actually using space after the Findesiecle Hex Data, and thus extending the rom size, even if only by a little bit. I feel it is more fun to enhance Findesiecle. Which other patches? Why do you have your Max mod to be compatible with them? There is no reason for it to be. With this you can make proper Maxim game, instead of limiting poor guy to a scrapped sub mode. Also you can use him in the main mode for much more stuff, such as spell books. But of course choice is yours.

But a Maxim story mode that caminopreacher has been wanting to do, and that I was able to help figure that out to he began working on it, that’s a very different and bigger hack where it is worth the extra effort. As for my hacks being compatible with others, sure I don’t have to do that, but I’m sure that fans of the hacks would like it if mixing patches doesn’t break things. People like to mix patches. Ask StarWyvrn, he mixes patches all the time, and look at his most recent effort broke the SIMONX colors, which is actually simple to fix (you just have to change SIMONX palette to be the same as SIMON. There’s another approach as well that is also simple, but takes a little longer, using Tile Molester to assist).

I have only seen parts of the story, but I did all the changes for the cutscene sprites and the menu.
I know most how how his story will go as Camino has told me, but I’m not sure it would need two versions of the hack, otherwise it would not be the story he is trying to tell.
And now while I’m working on Enhancing Findesiecle, I’m also testing sprite compatibility with Camino’s Maxim Hack.
I still am not understanding your earlier comment of “why do these on Findesiecle instead of regular?” And you said that I wasn’t interested in making a Maxim that can use spells for a story hack, which is exactly what Camino and I have been working on.
Again, to clarify, I’m plan on putting these extra sprites in the Maxim Story mode, but no, I am not going to make a version of them for a regular Harmony of Dissonance rom.

Making those sprites for the story makes exactly the second version of the game I have mentioned, which makes sense due to player switching between two personalities as the story goes on.

Ok, guess I have to spoil it a little, in CV fighter, Max combines two his personalities. Player have an access to BOTH stances, all skills etc. Making this for HoD is hardly doable ATM. But in Camino's story player switches between Maxim's personas as it goes. Which linked to castles & makes sense. So by having TWO versions of the same story mod with TWO Maxim's player can switch between them accordingly to the story. Which makes immersion even more awesome. Especially when player goes VS Juste for example. Game is already made in a way, that two Maxim's personalities are different by their movements & animation. Sane one - player, corrupted one - boss. And the story Camino made makes player see it from PoVs of BOTH of those.

I see, I never played CV fighter, but at least now I understand what you’re trying to say.
But yeah that is definitely not possible for HoD, not without programming a whole brand new game from the ground up.
No matter how many sprites can be added, it’s still the same player character accessing the sprite frames and animations.
Anyways, this has gone off topic I feel.
I was mostly trying to share my new discoveries and enhancements of my USA Findesiecle port, and I’m going to continue focusing on that.

Hello all. Been a while since my last update. Been pretty busy with school. Anyways, I've learned a whole lot more while messing around with my USA Findesiecle port. I'm finalizing everything together for a BIG update. Here's a preview of what's coming... In addition to fleshing out Maxim to have more animations, I've restored the "Blue Flame" effect for his Jump Kicks:Speaking of New Animations, here are some for SIMONX (this is from an early test, don't worry, his Shadows are the correct color in the upcoming release):Also, gave SIMONX the ability to Dash Back/Forward:Regular Simon and SIMONX now have real whip colors instead of their body colors:Megaman has been tweaked to shoot across more of the screen (I may make this a separate optional patch, in case some prefer him the old way):Maxim and the other Extra Characters no longer have weird blood when they die:Maxim can now use Magic Spells in his mode (You MUST first get a Spellbook, and after, press DOWN+L+R to activate the Spellbook):Not just Maxim... Anyways, that will do for now!

I was able to figure out how to get Crush Stone to work correctly as well (it was glitchy before):

Do you mean the boss Maxim Special Attacks?
Unfortunately those I can’t add, Maxim doesn’t have any attacks at all that look similar at all to try and add sprites for them.
My Maxim has come a long way from Vanilla though. From here on, I’m considering maybe a different animation for when he casts spells, but I want to try to do some character replacements next.
I don’t like having Megaman and Mario as characters. 😂
