Yes I've seen them. @xavier no the update has not been released, due to personal issues as a result of the recent pandemic and slowed down work for this hack. Your thoughts? Richter in CotM? Not really all that interested to be honest, would rather have Simon from Chronicles or Leon playable.

I'm talking about a 32-bit resized version of him from scratch to fit COTM, also I saw that topic of Leon for Juste swap, there is a reason why we don't see many sprite replacement hacks for HOD and that is because Juste has a sprite format that is VERY hard to replace given that a lot of them are in pieces or out of order, COTM with Nathan on the other hand has the second easiest list of sprites to replace since all of Nathan's sprites are put together like Soma's with the only downside being that he has more constaints size wise than Soma.

Yeah but don't you have to use more complex spriting methods though, like YYCHR for CotM. And know one knows how to change story for CotM yet. Have we figured out how to swap enemies yet? CotM seems limited with hacking and modding. We do have the 32-bit sprite sheet for Leon, but it isn't the right size for GBA Castlevania's. As for Simon, I think there may be a couple of sprite sheets for chronicles version floating about the internet, but again, size is a problem. And yeah, I can see why people don't like modding Juste. But swaps for Julius in AOS were the same way. Just copy same size pieces of new sprite and paste over old ones. I did that with the CoD Trevor in the Pachislot beta, and it didn't turn out too bad. How did they make ROTF? I mean, they successfully ported Julius over Juste right? I wish I new their method, so I could repeat it with Leon.

I use Tile Moleter for COTM, always have and the sprites become put together once you scale the canvas size to 4 columns, I think the complex spriting you saw is the canvas size not being resized which has the sprites in a jumbled mess but after making it 4 columns the sprites are put together and you simply have to scroll and find them, some of them that are still in pieces can be combined together for hacking if you knock the size down to 2 columns. Pretty much all level of sprite hacking is possible even the menu sprites so yes it is possible to do enemy sprite replacements as well as weapon and item sprites but to be honest those sprites can be such a chore to find and there are usually a bunch of them and scrolling at only 4 columns though every sprite is a chore so I never bother and strictly focus on the main character but it is possible from a sprite editing standpoint, the only major thing not possible with CoTM is hackin the story, dialogue portraits and item/stat hacking. Regarding ROTF I have no clue how they did any of that given that they did not release a tutorial of their work, Its still to this day the most expansive CV hack released. What I do know is that Tonyjih is a actual professional coder with extensive knowledge in manipulating a game's core code to his liking so what may be possible for him may not be possible for us given he actually does that type of thing for a living rather than as a hobby or for fun.

He uses own data, because game is remade. Just as Max got new animations & weapon.

Huh, that sounds just like what Lago said. He said that the reason DSV does not work for certain CVs and hacks is that those are hard coded differently. Same with J region roms. They are coded different. So you think that TonyJ hard coded more character slots, as well as his own custom characters? That's deep. Wish I was that smart. That means, even if he had made ROTF for the US version rom, it probably still wouldn't work in DSV, like with AOS Alter... If you use tile molester, can you rip sprites from ROTF and port them to other games, like TonyJ's custom Maxim? If so, essentially the same method could be used to insert any sprite combo into ROTF, like Adult Mario instead of tiny one, or Megaman X instead of Rockman, or Trevor and Alucard, instead of Juste and Maxim, Leon for Julius, etc...

You need to rewrite game & MAKE it use more space first. For Max, he have a space already, but unless you manually make game use that space, its useless to insert anything there. And such a thing require programming experience.

I was just wondering if use YYCHR or Tilemolestor for Juste swap?

With YYchr. I replaced original Simon. Do you think You can replace Julius in ROTF with same method? Maybe. But if I remember right, Juste look same there sprite wise, he is recoded to use frames in new order, thus he gets animation changes. Usual Juste I mean.
