hey guys was wondering if anyone had tried to make a mod where you can't level up? I'm talking about making enemies drops 0 in all of the game so that Alucard stays at level 1? I tried using the tool by Z3R0X but somehow the merman still give xp, can anybody help?

Here an example using Cheat Engine.

This tool do have some bugs that the creator still is pending to fix and features to add, but so far, no news regarding it. One example is that the increased STR /Damage of monsters are applied to contact damage only (for example, nova skeleton bumping to you will deal the damage indicated on the tool , but the nova beam still deals 150 damage/hit)
I remember also that HardType mod do have a level 1 mod, but as far from what I've seem, it works a bit buggy (zeroes the current exp, but if a monster do have more exp than 'next', it let you level up anyway) .
Alternatively , this can be done via GS codes. At start of game :
- take a note of starting stats - get a GS code to level up to 98 (or 99 if you dont care about familiars) - get a GS code for each attribute to set their values fixed for the starting stats(or any stats you wish. I like to put 0 for extra fun , except MP and LCK. MP=0 crashes the game. negative luck does stuff like random 9999 crits and crashes, but that might be due to the emulator) - enable the codes - reach first save point. - disable the codes.
With this, you will effectively have a non-level up run. if MP becomes an issue(such as not having minimum MP for mist) , you need to have a way to increase it. My way was:
- get a GS code to increase max MP by 5 each time is triggered (I've tied to L2+up buttons), but do not turn on yet - After defeating a boss, reach a save room and save - turn on MP increasing GS code. Sometimes I did triggered multiple times by mistake, so I ended resetting my game when I added more than needed - after getting the correct value , save and turn off the GS code to not activate by mistake
A simplier way would be to have a sort of 'max MP UP' at the game , or tying it to a Heart/HP max up, but that would require ASM knowledge, which I dont have ...

You can make a save state on PC & copy it. I play my hacks on Vita that way. Making them on PC, saving states & transferring on a console. Retroarch is great universal emulator. 2. Try to use EPSXE. It have static memory & address you find on PC may be usable on a phone or psp. 3. Root your phone & get mobile Cheat Engine. It's great thing.

Wasn't Retroarch ported to 3DS?

Wasn't Retroarch ported to 3DS? yes, but it is considerably less resoursefull than any other versions, plus the most advanced versions are only aviable for New-3DS, while for OLD3ds like mine I had to recompile a modded version for it to run.

Then you can try save editing. Using hex. Or if there is a possibility to convert a save from PC emulator, that will be super easy.
