Okay, I am not sure if this question has been asked before, but I have always been curious, could Rondo of Blood been ported over to the Super SNES? I have heard tales that PC Engine didn't want Rondo ported to any other console, I don't know if this is even true or not, I can't see Konami agreeing to that, especially given PC Engine was basically dead in Japan by 1995.
All that aside, was the Super NES technically advanced enough to port Rondo of Blood over? If it was possible, I can imagine all the anime cutscenes would have to be done away with and replaced with sprite cutscenes with text dialogue.
I've always held to the belief that the Super SNES could do it, I mean the Super NES was a very impressive machine for its time! By 1995 we had games like Donkey Kong Country and Super Metroid.

From my understanding no. It's the entire reason why we got the game we got with Dracula X which is that the technology was definitely not there for a straight port so they had to make a loose adaption of that game instead to accommodate the snes hardware.

Out of topic but is a kind of idea I have... CV Vampire kiss is not actually a bad castlevania, have great scenarios, funny progression, cool secrets and cheesy boss fights, the big deal is that RoB have the same but way more starting for 2 playable characters and many more stages, and a more compressible story. BUT what if konami instead of show us Richter will give us some other character. Like an 80s thug and little modern elements like cityscapes at the far BG and change the wall chicken for a wall pizza? It will get a totally different weight to us players as the game will be not an inferior version of RoB but his own castlevania. Same plot same bosses same music, diferent assets, as the game is different enough from Rondo. Sounds cool huh...

Aw, truly a shame!! I always thought the reason why we got Dracula X was because PC Engine didn't want Rondo of Blood ported to any other console.
