So this is the first time I've ever made a post on any thread about anything so hopefully I remember to check this sometime in the future or even remember I made this post but yes.
I was looking around on the internet about editing the graphics for the DSVanias and things like that because recently playing through them I remembered thinking it would've been cool if you were able to see the equipment you put onto your character on their sprites. Looking it up though I either was referring to that idea in the entirely wrong way or literally nobody has asked specifically about if this is possible to do because I found absolutely nothing on this question, at least not on Google at least, I'm not super familiar with how to search posts on threads so forgive me if I'm asking a redundant question.
If it's not possible to mod this function into the game I'd get that because it would have to do with adding a ton of sprites and animations for every single equipment piece into the game and going into the coding and reworking or just entirely making up some extra code about how sprites are loaded into the game and somehow connecting the equipment to the loaded sprites and whatever I said it in a wonky way you get what I mean.
I know it's possible to hack some really crazy stuff into games if you get deep into the code and all but I'm very unfamiliar with how far the modding scene for Castlevania in general has gotten and honestly, I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to put in the huge amount of effort likely needed to make something like this possible just for cool visual details.
Regardless of if anyone wants to do it though, I really just want to know if it's possible at all and to hear what someone who's more experienced on the subject thinks about the idea and the viability of it and whatever. I know it's possible to replace sprites and animations of course but I imagine adding in a million extra sprites and animations for the equipment is a different ball park entirely.

It might be possible, but it would require rewriting a lot of the game's code or extensive Assembly coding to do it for every armor there are some Chinese AoS hacks on Bilibili that change Soma's palette and some of his sprites when equipping certain armors, but we can't know how they exactly did it since they keep all of their hacking info to their own Baidu stuff that's hard to access www.bilibili.com/video/BV14o4y1C7GK?p=5 https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1yW411n7rs/?spm_id_from=333.788.recommend_more_video.4

That's solid information to know, I did see on other posts mentions of memory issues if certain sprites or animations weren't deleted when replacing characters and things like that so I assumed it was moreso just an issue of a lack of space on the DS rom memory itself or something that would make it impossible, period. Hearing that something like that was able to be done on one of the Gameboy Castlevanias though makes me really curious to look into it sometime. I'm not super certain when I'll find the time to figure out anything about it, I've got college and I've literally never even touched rom hacking in the past but I am studying programming, could be a fun passion project to look at over the course of the future years. I appreciate the input, that's really helpful
