Is this possible? I've tried using yy-chr, but I can't figure it out. I don't care if the animations are janky, I just want it to work.

Definitely possible, but you won't get it with just putting the game into YY-CHR, especially not a PSX game. I recommend getting Tile Molester (yes, that's the actual name, link: Romhacking.net - Tile Molester) and looking through the game with a debugging emulator, flagging related code right as its loaded and using save states to export Alucard's sprites and palettes and importing them into TM, however you'd do that. Palettes (I think) should be right there in the VRAM with unloaded sprites, tiles, and whatnot. 1. Use a PSX emulator like ePSXe, PsxIda, or no$psx (which is the one I highly recommend) and save states not only to export sprites in the VRAM, but also study them so when you edit the graphics and palette, you don't end up breaking entire zones, events, or other objects' graphics. 2. Look up PSX VRAM hacking tutorials, get knowledge on the subject, and mess around with your chosen emulator. Experience is the best teacher. 3. Even if you pursue this and don't completely succeed, if you make decent progress, document your process. It would help the SotN and PSXvania hacking communities a hell of a lot! :> 4. Use this doc created by Nyxojaele* (link: SotN Nyxojaele Documentation) and this (link: SotN.dev Documentation) to help you find offsets and learn how the game works as best you can manage. Remember, anything with hacking is possible, just takes some work and drive. Good luck with this endeavor, hope it gets somewhere!! (Edited a bunch btw, not that great at explaining this well lol)*

To add info to my first reply (I've been thinking about this thread lately for some reason), SotN is a tricky game to hack. There are several reasons Esco went on to make his own version in Unity and the SotN Decomp (link: GitHub sotn-decomp) is taking quite a while (although they've been making good progress as of late). Don't let that discourage you though, in fact, let it motivate you to make this idea a reality! I apologize for my inexperience on the matter btw, I'm somewhat new to PSX hacking myself, but just research and play around with the game as much as you can until you find the way to do this! Also, you'll have to create new frames to line up with Alucard's since, respectfully, I don't think anyone's able to change the frame data of sprites yet, but hey, maybe you'll be one of the first if not THE first! Also ask questions to those who are experienced with PSX hacking, one of the best ways to learn how to do this. Edit: Link to a PCSX debugger: Romhacking.net PCSX with Debugger
Link to a vram dumper: PsxVram-DotNet
Link to a GitHub site with a list of helpful programs: ETM: Tools and Resources (could def be helpful because the game it's dedicated to is a Konami PSX game, this site also has a ton of info on other areas of PSX hacking)
